GROUND REMEDIATION AND IMPROVEMENT

Ground improvement techniques are used on a wide range of sites in order to enhance the characteristics of existing soil ready for new construction works.

DEEP SOIL MIXING’S GROUND REMEDIATION AND IMPROVEMENT SOLUTIONS

Soil mixing involves mechanically combining soil with a specially-formulated cementitious/other binder to improve its properties. Binders such as cement and bentonite, strengthen and improve the existing features of the soil, making it an ideal structure to build upon.

Deep Soil Mixing Ltd uses both wet and dry soil mixing methods, depending on the nature of the soil and end use of the site.

With ground improvement processes, soft soils, as well as flood plains and contaminated land, are mixed with a binder for soil stabilisation or to create sub-surface structural foundations.

GROUND IMPROVEMENT: HOW IT WORKS

Deep Soil Mixing Ltd is able to assess the initial design, based on the initial seven day test results, with some certainty, enabling various design solutions to be considered and budget pricing for the project to be put in place. We work in partnership with experienced designers who can, if needed, provide designs and finite assessments for the project. They are also able to offer independent design clarification if warranties are required, provided this occurs at an early stage of the process.

GROUND IMPROVEMENT: BENEFITS

Ground improvement methods enhance weak compressible soils as well as unsuitable soils and contaminated soils, reforming them into different soils which are stronger and more durable.

Benefits of ground improvement include:

  • A quicker project time as design and implementation are fast
  • Reduced or no disposal costs as hardly any waste
  • Easier sub-structure design and construction
  • Effective on various soil types
  • Equipment designed to meet demanding needs of different sites

GROUND IMPROVEMENT: WHEN IT WORKS

Soil mixing is diverse and effective, with wet and dry soil mixing methods available together with a range of specialist equipment to meet the needs of different sites.

Ground improvement works for a wide range of projects, including:

  • Flood plains
  • Soft soils
  • Retail sites
  • Contaminated land
  • New buildings
  • Car parks construction
  • Wind farms
  • Flood defences
  • Roads and pavements construction
  • Landfill sites
  • Pipelines
  • PRBs
  • Slope Stabilisation
  • Basements
  • Sea Bed

GROUND IMPROVEMENT: WE’LL MAKE IT WORK FOR YOU

We’ve worked with clients on numerous of ground improvement projects, improving sites across the UK and abroad through the use of our soil mixing techniques.

Deep Soil Mixing Ltd has a tried and tested approach to every ground improvement venture, which includes testing the soil initially before doing the design work, finding the right equipment for the task and conducting field trials before starting the work. Once the construction methods are complete, validation testing takes place to ensure high standards have been achieved at every stage of the project and the final result is optimum.
