Deep Soil Mixing Ltd Starts 2024 With New Staff Members
Deep Soil Mixing Ltd has started 2024 as it means to go on – with the recruitment of 3 new members of staff to join its expanding team of soil mixing specialists and help manage the upcoming and ongoing projects across the UK.
The soil stabilisation and ground improvement specialist contractor has recently employed Seb Salt as Apprentice Plant Engineer, Dalia Jaisan as Geotechnical Laboratory Technician, and Dean Hill as Assistant Project Manager.
“It is a great way to start a New Year, we are pleased to be further expanding the team at Deep Soil Mixing. We are starting several new projects in the first quarter and need to bring in new employees to strengthen the team. In order for the company to grow, it is important that new people are keen to learn the soil mixing procedures and all our new starts have essential roles to fill,” says Robert McGall, Managing Director of Deep Soil Mixing Ltd.
“We are delighted to have Seb, Dalia and Dean join our team – and look forward to a successful year of soil mixing projects.”
As Apprentice Plant Engineer, Seb Salt is based at the company’s Stafford plant yard. He splits his time between being on site and studying at Stafford College for an apprenticeship course in Land-Based Service Engineering.
He says: “I feel lucky to have this opportunity to progress with my studies and gain practical experience. As Apprentice Plant Engineer I’m going to learn so much from my colleagues and manager, who’ve been so welcoming. Although I’m new to the role, I’m already really enjoying it and looking forward to getting to grips with it all.”
Dalia Jaisan is an experienced civil engineer and is Deep Soil Mixing Ltd’s new Geotechnical Laboratory Technician. Based at the company’s head office in Bedfordshire, she carries out testing of site samples, collecting the soils from various construction sites to test back in the laboratory.
“I’m already loving my new job – as well as testing soil samples in our laboratory at head office, I oversee all related activities to ensure that the testing is performed efficiently and quickly,” says Dalia.
Based on site, Dean Hill is Assistant Project Manager and is working alongside Site Manager Ash Critchlow. His role involves handling all on-site paperwork, drawings and plans with the principal contractor, project managers and engineers to keep progress on schedule, and ensuring the work taking place at the site runs smoothly.
“It’s such a varied role,” comments Dean.
“No two days are the same, which makes it really enjoyable – some days I’m going through the project plans with everyone while others I’m outlining the cell and column installations required or assisting with the health and safety management on site. It’s challenging and rewarding in equal measures, and it’s great to work alongside and learn from Ash and the Deep Soil Mixing team too.”
Deep Soil Mixing Ltd is one of the UK’s leading soil mixing specialists with experience in successfully completing projects for the stabilisation of embankments, ground improvement and soil stabilisation for the construction of retail parks and roads, and stabilisation of soil for corridors for services installation as well as stabilisation of contaminated ground.
“With multiple uses and benefits of soil mixing, it makes sense to expand our team and grow our business,” explains Robert McGall, company MD.
“We believe soil mixing will become the standard practice in the next few years, which is why we’re investing in our people and resources now. We want to expand its use in the UK especially as we should be looking at more sustainable construction solutions – and we need a great team to be able to do so.
“We couldn’t be happier with Seb, Dalia and Dean joining us. We have many new projects starting in 2024, including projects in Norfolk and Sussex, as well as ongoing projects in London, so it’s fantastic to have more talented individuals helping us complete our projects successfully and enabling us to expand the business.”
